Introducing Combat Patrol League!

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, there is only war. In the mid-brightness of the 3rd millennium, however, there are hobby nights at Gamers Grove! Our Thursday evening hobby sessions have been a popular and productive addition to our schedule and have led us to our newest calendar addition - Combat Patrol League.

What is Combat Patrol?

At Gamers Grove, we offer a variety of Warhammer products, including Combat Patrols. These bargain boxes are an excellent way for prospective Warhammer 40K players to obtain several core units from whichever army they may want to play. As a bonus to the already good deal put on these boxes, they tend to be the most cost-effective way of getting their contents; they also come with free rules for a small-scale variant of Warhammer 40,000 called Combat Patrol. Games of Combat Patrol should be expected to take an hour or two tops, but offer the fun and strategic puzzle solving of a real game of 40k. There’s no need to fret over loadouts, list tuning, or dedicating a whole 4-6 hours to a game with Combat Patrol. It’s a fast and fun way to get your models straight from the box to the table.

What is Combat Patrol League?

Combat Patrol League is a six-week event series at Gamers Grove on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. Entry into the league is a one-time payment of $10, which goes straight to the prize pool. Every Friday, players are paired up with an opponent and play for points—the winners get 3 points, and everyone else gets 1 point. On the last Friday of the six-week League, we will host a Wrap Party and award prizes based on final standings.

Do I need anything besides the Combat Patrol Box?

Besides the contents of the box, you’ll also need a device you can download the Warhammer 40,000 app so you can access your free Combat Patrol rules. Past that, you just need some dice, a tape measure, and the tools to build your army!

Do I need to have the army painted?

Nope! Building a whole Combat Patrol is a lot of work as it is, so, we’re not mandating paint. However, everyone loves to look at a painted army, so those with painted armies at the end of the league will be entered into a drawing for a store credit prize. If you need help building or painting, our Thursday night hobby nights start at 6 pm and are a great way to meet other players, learn tips and tricks from veterans of the hobby, and have some dedicated time to work on your models.

Wrapping Up

Warhammer is a famously expensive hobby so Gamers Grove hopes that Combat Patrol League can be a way for folks to dip their toes in the water without committing to a full army. This way, you can meet our helpful players and become a part of a group that loves the game, lore, and community of Warhammer. Thanks for reading and, as always, we’ll see you at the Grove.
